Born in Yorkshire, schooled in Cardiff, studied, worked and lived in London, now living in Edinburgh.

Graduated in Creative Photography at UAL London College of Communication, worked briefly as a professional photographer, then as a civil servant in London for 31 years.  Took short courses in painting and printmaking in and around London, while spending time each summer painting plein air landscapes in Provence. In 2007 began as a part time professional artist, going full time in 2011, working and exhibiting at the Wimbledon Artist Studios until 2016.
 

In 2016 took a 5 year break to be a full-time carer for my father. In 2020 began working from my home studio, experimenting during lockdown with new subjects, techniques, and media.  Moved to Edinburgh in 2022 . Joined a one year part time course in printmaking at Leith School of Art IN 2025..

 

MY WORK​

In 2022 I took the massive step to move from my lifelong home in the south of England to Scotland to start a new life in a home close to the Firth of Forth with spectacular sea views. I began exploring the city and learned to paint seascapes.  This year I am printmaking at Leith School of Art, exploring the themes of "A Sense of Place" and "Why Edinburgh?" through the medium of print. The move has had a profound effect, not least on my creative output. Having been primarily a realist watercolour painter most of my life, I am now working conceptually in print. I'm attempting to express the highs and lows of the last 3 years; the effect of the huge expanse of sea and sky on my unconscious; the process of starting a new life; and meeting new people. Always with the sense that serendipity has been playing a major part in this new experience.
